No. 18 ISU Moves Into Fourth Place In Puerto Rico

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico – The No. 18 Iowa State women's golf team moved into fourth place after the second day of competition at the loaded Lady Puerto Rico Classic.
The Cyclones shot a 291 this morning, the second-lowest team score of the day. ISU is currently 15 shots behind tournament leader No. 8 Arkansas with a two-round 585 tally. ISU is just two shots behind third-place Texas Tech (583).
The tournament is annually one of the most competitive in the nation, and this year is no different. This year's field features nine teams currently ranked in the nation's top-30 according to Golfweek.
Cyclone rookie Parinda Phokan catapulted into the top-10 with a 2-under 70 in the second round. She is currently in a tie for sixth (74-70=144) after carding four birdies this morning. Sophomore Nattapan Siritrai is tied for 19th with scores of 76-72=148. Celia Barquin is tied for 32nd (73-76=149).
The tournament will wrap up tomorrow with the third round of play.
