UC Davis 6, Iowa State 4
The Cyclones threatened in the top of the first, loading the bases with two outs on three-consecutive singles, but were unable to take advantage. UC Davis was then able to get two on the board in the bottom half. After a single, a hit by pitch and a walk, Alicia Paine walked to score the first run. The Aggies then brought in one more on a fielder's choice to lead 2-0 after one.
UC Davis tacked on another run in the second on a Katie Robertson sac fly. Midway through the inning, junior Mandi Moore entered to pitch in relief of starter Emma Hylen.
Iowa State got on the board in the top of the fourth, when it loaded the bases once again. Sally Woolpert reached on an error, as Kirsten Caudle came around to score. However, the Cyclones were unable to further cut into the lead. The Aggies then responded with one of their own in bottom of the fourth on an RBI triple from Brianna Warner.
Brittany Gomez and Cathlin Bingham reached on singles to start out of the fifth inning. Aly Cappert then hit an RBI single to score Gomez and move Bingham over to third with no outs. Rachel Hartman brought Bingham home with an RBI on a fielder's choice to make it a 4-3 UC Davis lead.
Following a two-run bottom of the fifth for the Aggies, the Cyclones once again looked to get the offense going with an RBI from Bingham on a fielder's choice to score Nychole Antillon. However, ISU was unable to close the gap further. The Cyclones went scoreless in the top of the seventh, falling 6-4.
