AMES, Iowa – Iowa State (4-5, 0-0 Big 12) defeated North Carolina Central (2-6, 0-0 MEAC) 99-58. It was a great team effort from Bill Fennelly's squad as every Cyclone scored in the contest.
The Iowa State offense was clicking on all cylinders in this one. ISU finished the game 37-64 (58%) from the field and connected on 13-27 trys from three. They added 12-15 from the charity stripe to bolster their offensive output.
How It Happened
Iowa State used a 14-2 run early in the contest to take control of the game, which led to 26-8 advantage after the first quarter. At the half, the Cyclones led 49-22.
The Cardinal and Gold fired a blistering 56% from the field in the first stanza. Meredith Burkhall was a perfect 8-8 from the field, tallying 17 first half points. She added four rebounds and assisted on two other Iowa State baskets.
ISU's defense was also key in their first-half dominance. The Cyclones held NC Central to 8-24 shooting while forcing 15 eagle turnovers.
The Cyclones kept their foot on the pedal in the second half. Iowa State's 99 points were its most since they scored 100 against New Orleans last season.
Players of Note
Meredith Burkhall turned in a season-high 19 points. She finished the game 9-11 from the field and grabbed six rebounds.
Bridget Carleton was a stat stuffer for the Cyclones in the contest. She scored a game-high 21 points behind 8-14 shooting, including 5-9 from deep. She also dished out a career-high-tying six assists, while pulling down four rebounds
Madison Wise posted a career-high in scoring with 16 points. She rattled home 3-4 attempts from down town, while hauling in two rebounds.
Kristin Scott was busy in the post and was featured in much of Iowa State's offense. She tallied a career-high 19 points on 7-10 shooting. She led the Cyclones in rebounds, collecting seven rebounds.

Iowa State will get the week off. The Cyclones return to Hilton Coliseum next Sunday, Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. where they will face U.C. Riverside. The game will be broadcast on Cyclones.TV.
