AMES, Iowa – Iowa State's 13th-ranked men's cross country team has had to withdraw from Saturday's Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis.
"We have four of our top seven runners nursing various illnesses and my first concern is the wellness of our student-athletes," Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Martin Smith said. "We have a long history of competing at the Griak and we were looking forward to making a run at winning the meet this season. Regretfully, we have to rest our team this week in light of our team's health. It is disappointing to miss one of our region's premiere competitions."
The Cyclones return to action at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational Oct. 13.
The Iowa State women's team, ranked 23rd by the USTFCCCA, will compete at the Griak Invitational as scheduled this weekend.
