AMES, Iowa- The Iowa State women's basketball team (8-10, 2-5Â Big 12) is set to take on No. 17 West Virginia (15-4, 3-4Â Big 12) on Saturday, Jan. 20Â at 6:30 p.m. in Hilton Coliseum. The game will air on Cyclones.tv. Iowa State is looking to avoid a sweep after falling at West Virginia 57-49 in a close game. Last season, Iowa State swept WVU. The Cyclones are also looking for their first win over a ranked opponent since topping No. 6 Texas on Feb. 24, 2017, 70-66.Â

- Carleton is one of 20 players in the nation named to the Cheryl Miller Award Preseason Watch List, which honors the nation's top small forward. Carleton also earned honorable mention honors on the Big 12 preseason team for the 2017-18 season in addition to being a unanimous selection to the All-Big 12 postseason team in 2016-17.
- Carleton has 1,118 career points, and ranks 24th all-time in ISU history, and is 40 away from tying Coleen Peterson (1,158). Carleton eclipsed 1,000 career points in ISU's game vs. Kansas. She currently ranks seventh in school history in career scoring average, with 14.7 points per game, passing all-time great Megan Taylor (14.1), who sits in eighth.
- Iowa State ranks first in the Big 12 and is in the top-50 in the nation in 3-pointers per game (8.2). The Cyclones have four players who have netted over 20 triples on the years so far, leading the Big 12. Carleton and Adriana Camber lead the way with 35 and 30 respectively, followed by Emily Durr with 28 and Madison Wise with 23 on the season.
- Wise captured her second career Big 12 Freshman of the Week honor on Monday. Wise is one of just two Big 12 freshmen earn the honor multiple times this season. She earned her first honor on Dec. 4.
- The 2016-17 season marks the 23rd in the tenure of Bill Fennelly. Fennelly has led Iowa State to 17 NCAA Tournament appearances, which is tied with Oklahoma as the most of any Big 12 team since 1997. Fennelly boasts a 473-246 record at Iowa State and a 639-299 record in his 28-year career as a head coach. His 639 career wins lists him in the top-30 in the NCAA among active coaches.
Scouting The Mountaineers
- Coming off a pair of conference losses at the hand of TCU and No. 24 Oklahoma State, West Virginia comes into Ames at 15-4 overall, 3-4 in Big 12 play.
- The Mountaineers' defense has been a key for their success, only allowing 58.5 points per game. West Virginia held the Cyclones to just 49 points in the first meeting between the teams in Morgantown.

- Iowa State has hit 200 3-pointers in a season for an NCAA record 14-straight years (2003-04-present). Iowa State has netted 147 so far this season.
- Senior Emily Durr has been fouled on 3-point attempts in her career more than any other Cyclone. She has netted 41 points at the charity stripe off 3-point fouls in her career. She has been fouled once this season beyond the arc and 16 in her career.
