





AMES, Iowa -The Iowa State women's basketball team (6-1, 0-0, Big 12) returns to Hilton Coliseum to take on Iowa (6-2, 0-0 Big Ten) in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. on FS1. Iowa State is riding a five-game win streak entering Wednesday's matchup.
As a reminder, Hilton Coliseum has instituted a Clear Bag Policy for athletic events. The policy will enhance security while improving efficiency at the entry gates.

- Sophomore Ashley Joens, is off to a historic start to her sophomore season, in ISU's game against Texas Southern she became the first player in Iowa State women's basketball history to record a 30-20 game. She netted 30 points and hauled in 20 rebounds against TSU. Her 16 free throws made also tied the school record for free throws made in a game. Her 20 rebounds are also tied for third in school history. More impressive, she is one of four Big 12 players to score 30 or more points and grab 20 or more rebounds in a game since 1999-00, joining Danielle Crockrom, Brittney Griner and Courtney Paris.
- Joens is currently first in the Big 12 in scoring and 10th in the nation, averaging 21.9 points per game, while her 10.1 rebounds ranks sixth in the Big 12 and 21st nationally. Joens is the only player in the NCAA averaging over 20.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and shooting over 40 percent from the floor.
- Joens also has a knack for getting to the free-throw line. She ranks 11th in free throws made (50), and 28th in free throws attempted (55).Her 90.9 percent at the charity stripe also ranks 19th nationally.
- Junior Kristin Scott picked up right where she left off last season, earning a spot on the Preseason All-Big 12 team. Scott is currently second on the team in scoring, averaging 13.7 points, despite playing limited minutes earlier this season. Scott is also second in rebounding, averaging 6.3 boards per game.
- Joens and Scott each found themselves on a pair of preseason watch lists, with Joens being named to the Cheryl Miller Award Watch List, which honors the nation's top small forward. Scott on the other hand, was named to the Lisa Leslie Watch List, which honors the country's best center. Scott is the first Cyclone to be named to the Lisa Leslie Watch List. Scott is also on the Citizen Naismith Trophy Watch List, which honors the nation's top player.
- Junior Rae Johnson is third in the Big 12 in assists per game, averaging 4.7. Johnson has dished five or more assists in three games this season.
- The 2019-20 season marks the 25th in the tenure of Bill Fennelly. Fennelly has led Iowa State to 18 NCAA Tournament appearances. Fennelly boasts a 511-263 record at Iowa State and a 677-316 record in his 32-year career as a head coach. His 677 career wins lists him in the top-15 in the NCAA among active coaches in Division I and in the top-50 winningest coaches all-time.

- The Iowa State women's basketball team grabbed a 75-66 win over Alabama in the Big 12/SEC Challenge on Thursday. The Cyclones placed four in double figures as they powered past the Crimson tide. The Cyclones amassed as much as a 16-point lead against UA.
- Kristin Scott led Iowa State with her second 20-point outing of the season. She netted 20 points, eight rebounds and dished three assists, while shooting 50 percent from the floor. Rae Johnson also stepped up for the Cyclones, netted 17 points and dishing eight dimes. Ines Nezerwa (13) and Ashley Joens (12) rounded out the Cyclones in double figures.
- ISU shot 43.8 percent from the floor and outrebounded the Crimson Tide 38-33.
