- Senior Bridget Carleton was named the Big 12 Player of the Year on Wednesday by the league's coaches. Carleton is averaging a league-leading 21.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 2.4 steals and 1.3 blocks. She is the first Cyclone in school history to earn Big 12 Player of the Year honors.Â
- ISU checks in at No. 19 in this week's AP Top 25 poll after going 2-0 last week and moving into second in the Big 12 standings. Iowa State ranks No. 12 in the latest RPI projections and is ranked No. 3 in strength of schedule. ISU is also ranked No. 19 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. In the second NCAA Top-16 reveal the NCAA Women's Basketball Committee put Iowa State at 14th overall, making them a No. 4 seed in the Chicago Regional.
- Carleton (2,075) is currently second in school history in scoring, she is 74 points behind all-time scoring leader Angie Welle (2,149). She also holds the school record in scoring average, netting 17.2 points per game in her career and counting.
- Carleton's 693 points this season breaks the school record of 676 set in 2002 by Welle. She is also on pace to break the ISU single-season scoring average record also set by Welle in 2002 (20.5 PPG), as she is averaging 21.7 PPG. Carleton is also looking to be just the third Cyclone to lead the Big 12 in scoring, as Angie Welle (20.5, 2002) and Lindsey Wilson (19.2, 2003) completed the feat.
- Kristin Scott has been making waves in her sophomore campaign. She ranks 10th in the Big 12 in scoring (15.2 PPG) and seventh in rebounding (7.9 RPG) in conference games.
