AMES, Iowa – Iowa State football fans have done it again.
The Athletics Department announced Friday that it has added to the school record total of season football tickets sold, passing the 45,000 level for the first time ever.
Last week the department noted that it bettered its all-time season ticket total and, at that time, Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard challenged the fans to reach 45,000 sales.
And, they answered.
"Just adding to an amazing tradition of loyalty and support in Cyclone Nation," Pollard wrote from Italy where he is watching the men's basketball team play on its foreign tour. "Can't wait to return to campus and start counting down to some early season sellout announcements."
The Cyclone Athletics Ticket Office continues to accept season ticket orders. Single-game ticket sales began Thursday. Iowa State opens the season with home games against UNI (Aug. 31), Iowa (Sept. 14) and ULM (Sept. 21).
