AMES, Iowa – Iowa State quarterback Brock Purdy had a school-record 510 yards of total offense and matched an ISU record accounting for six touchdowns (three rushing, three passing) as Iowa State rolled to a 72-20 win against Louisiana-Monroe Saturday afternoon at MidAmerican Energy Field at Jack Trice Stadium.

The Cyclones' 72 points were the most of the Matt Campbell era. Iowa State racked up a school-record 714 yards in the victory.
Purdy's total offense output surpassed the previous record of 493 held by Austen Arnaud and Seneca Wallace, while his six touchdowns accounted for tied Bret Oberg's mark that dated back to a 1989 performance against Oklahoma.
After a shaky start with a couple of turnovers to start the game, Iowa State got things rolling with back-to-back 7-yard touchdown runs by Purdy. Purdy then found Tarique Milton on a 73-yard bomb to put the Cyclones up 21-0 after the first play of the second quarter. ISU held a 27-13 at the half.
Purdy's onslaught continued with a 13-yard TD run and an 84-yard pass, Iowa State's longest play of the season and the fifth-longest in school history, to Deshaunte Jones. Purdy's sixth touchdown came on his final play of the day with 19 seconds left in the third quarter as he found redshirt freshman Sean Shaw Jr. for a 12-yard touchdown strike.
Re-al Mitchell tossed a fourth quarter touchdown to Shaw and Connor Assalley tacked on his third field goal of the game. Jake Hummel returned a fourth-quarter interception 48 yards for a touchdown as the Cyclones won the turnover battle in the game (3-2).
Mitchell capped the scoring with a 29-yard scamper with 2:32 remaining in the game.
