The Lead
Iowa State (0-1, 0-0 Big 12) opens Big 12 play in its first road test of the season at TCU (0-0, 0-0 Big 12). The Cyclones have defeated the Horned Frogs twice in the last three seasons. ISU's lone victory over TCU in Ft. Worth was in 2012 (37-23), TCU's first season in the league. ISU has yet to win a Big 12-opener in the Matt Campbell era (2016-) and its last win in its first league tilt was a 38-13 win over Kansas to begin the 2015 Big 12 campaign. Â

-Iowa State hopes to bounce back after suffering a 31-14 setback vs. Louisiana in its home-opener on Sept. 12.Â
-The Cyclones outgained the Ragin' Cajuns, 303-272, but three big plays doomed ISU. The Cyclones allowed a 95-yard kickoff return, an 83-yard punt return and a 78-yard pass play which all resulted in touchdowns.Â
