AMES, Iowa – Head coach Jamie Pinkerton announced his program's 2021 schedule today, featuring three home Big 12 conference series at the Cyclone Sports Complex. The Cyclones' home slate will include series vs. a pair of opponents that appear in the top 10 of DISoftball's preseason rankings - No. 2 Oklahoma and No. 9 Texas.
Iowa State opens the year with 30 consecutive games away from home, including six tournaments on the road, spanning five different states. The season starts close to home with a trip to the UNI Dome Tournament (Feb. 12-14) in Cedar Falls, Iowa. It will be the first time Iowa State has opened its season in the state of Iowa since 2016.
The Cyclones then travel to Boca Raton, Fla., for the FAU Tournament (Feb. 19-21), followed by a return to Grand Canyon University for the GCU Purple Classic (Feb. 26-28) in Phoenix, Ariz. Iowa State played in the Lopes Up Classic on GCU's campus during the 2019 campaign.
A trip to Arlington, Texas for the UT-Arlington Boerner Invitational (March 5-7) is followed by back-to-back weekends in the Show Me State. Iowa State will play at the Missouri Tournament (March 12-14), marking the program's first time playing in Columbia, Mo., since 2011. The Cyclones close out their slate of non-conference tournaments at the Billiken Bash (March 19-21) in St. Louis, Mo.
Big 12 play opens the following weekend, as Iowa State has its home-opening weekend (March 26-28) vs. No. 2 Oklahoma. ISU will then travel down I-35 to take on Drake on March 30 in Des Moines. It is slated to be the third of four total meetings between the Cyclones and Bulldogs this season, as the teams will meet at both the UNI Dome and Missouri Tournaments.
Up next is a trip to Oklahoma State for a three-game conference series (April 1-3) in Stillwater, Okla., followed by a return trip to Cedar Falls on a game vs. UNI on April 7. Softball returns to the Cyclone Sports Complex the ensuing weekend as Iowa State welcomes preseason No. 9 Texas, a NCAA Super Regional qualifying team in 2019, to Ames April 9-11. A midweek home game vs. Drake follows on April 13.
A three-game series at North Dakota State is scheduled for the Cyclones' Big 12 bye week (April 16-18). Conference action resumes when Baylor comes to town April 23-25 for ISU's final home conference series of the season. The home slate wraps up entirely with a midweek contest vs. Kansas City on April 27.
The Cyclones close out the regular season with Big 12 series at Texas Tech (April 30-May 2) and Kansas (May 7-9).
The Big 12 Softball Championship will return to Oklahoma City, Okla., May 14-15, at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium Complex, also home to the NCAA Women's College World Series.
