IRVING, Texas – The Iowa State soccer team placed 12 student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 Soccer Teams, released Wednesday by the league office.
Of the 12 selections, 11 were named to the first team for Iowa State. Earning first-team honors were Kenady Adams, Taylor Bee, Meghan Carl, Olivia Edwards, Mira Emma, Tavin Hays, Brooke Miller, Claudia Najera, McKenna Schultz, Jordan Silkowitz and Eva Steckelberg. Schuyler Riese was named to the second team.
It was the third time being named to the first team for Adams, Bee and Miller, while Emma, Hays, Najera, Silkowitz and Steckelberg were named for the second time. Hays was a second-team selection in 2019, while Schultz was named to the first team for the first time after being a three-time second-team selection.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.Â
