CLEVELAND – Iowa State All-American linebacker Mike Rose was named the Male Collegiate Athlete of the Year at the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission's annual awards ceremony tonight.
A native of Brecksville, Ohio, Rose had a fantastic 2020 season while emerging as one of the best linebackers in the nation. He led the Big 12 in total tackles (96) and interceptions (5), leading the nation and breaking ISU's school record for picks by a linebacker.
Rose, who also had 10.5 TFL and six QB hurries, was named the Big 12's Defensive Player of the Year and was an All-America selection by The Athletic, Associated Press and Sporting News.
Rose will enter his senior season with 248 tackles, 29.0 TFL and six interceptions in his career. His 29.0 TFL ranks 10th all-time in school history.
