AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State cross country teams will have four representatives at next Saturday's NCAA Cross Country Championships in Stillwater, Oklahoma, with two men and two women earning individual at-large spots based off their NCAA Cross Country Championships Midwest Regional performances yesterday.
Representing the Iowa State women will be Dana Feyen and Madelynn Hill, while the Cyclone men will be represented by Gable Sieperda and Titus Winders.
Feyen earned her trip to Oklahoma State with a fifth place finish at the Midwest Regional yesterday, crossing in a 6K time of 20:13.0. Feyen has been Iowa State's top performer at four of five meets this season, earning her third All-Big 12 honor at the conference championships two weeks ago and a second career All-Region nod yesterday.
Hill was seventh at the Midwest Regional, crossing in 20:18.9. She was Iowa State's top finisher at the Griak Invitational back in September and has been the second Cyclone across the line behind Feyen at the other four meets. She is now a two-time All-Big 12 and two-time All-Midwest Region honoree as a Cyclone.
Sieperda used a big finish to take eighth in yesterday's Men's 10,000m competition, crossing in 29:43.8. Now a three-time All-Big 12 honoree and a two-time All-Region recipient, Sieperda was also the Cyclones' top finisher at the Nuttycombe Invitational.
Winders had a big finish on Friday to bring home a 10th place finish and earn his first career Division I All-Region honor. The Southern Indiana transfer will now get the chance to compete in his first Division I NCAA Championships, having earned a pair of All-America honors in three trips to the Division II NCAA Cross Country Championships.
The NCAA Cross Country Championships will take place next Saturday in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The women's 6,000m championship will begin at 9:20 a.m., with the men's 10,000m at 10:10 a.m. The competition will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
