ÂAMES, Iowa – The Iowa State soccer program had six student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team Tuesday.
The six Cyclones recognized by the organization for their achievements in the classroom include Kenady Adams, Olivia Edwards, Mira Emma, Claudia Najera, Jordan Silkowitz and Eva Steckelberg.
In order to qualify for the award, a student-athlete must earn a GPA of at least 3.50, be a sophomore or older with a year in residence and appear in 50 percent of all contests.
Below is a brief description of each student-athletes 2022 season achievements.
Started 16 of 17 matches in 2022.
One of three players to record over 1,300 minutes of playing time.
Recorded five shots on the season with two shots on goal.
Recorded one assist and one point.
Started 15 of 17 matches.
Played a total of 1,198 minutes.
Recorded three shots on the season.
Started all 17 matches for the Cyclones.
One of three players to record over 1,300 minutes of playing time.
Tallied a team-high nine points in 2022.
Recorded 23 total shots with 12 being on goal.
Scored three goals and collected three assists.
Started 14 of 17 matches for Iowa State.
Played 730 minutes.
Recorded one shot on goal in 2022.
Started all 17 matches for ISU.
Led the Big 12 with 100 saves.
Led the Big 12 with 5.88 saves per game.
Finished the 2022 season with 234 career saves. She is now fifth all-time at ISU in career saves.Â
Silkowitz finished 2022 in a tie for third place all-time at Iowa State with 10 career shut-outs.
Started all 17 matches for the Cyclones in 2022.
Played 1,205 total minutes.
Recorded seven shots with three shots on goal.
Tallied four points on the season.
Scored one goal and collected two assists.
