Five Cyclones Earn Academic All-District Honors

AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State football program placed five student-athletes on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team Tuesday.

Blake Clark, Beau Freyler, Connor Guess, Jake Remsburg and O'Rien Vance were each honored for their efforts on the field and in the classroom. Each student-athlete earned the honor for the first time in their career.

To qualify for the honor, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50, be at least a sophomore athletically and academically with a year in residence at the school and appear in 50 percent of all contests.

Made first career interception against Oklahoma State.

Connor Guess
Redshirt Senior – Van Meter, Iowa

Marketing graduate
Two-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team honoree
Has handled long snapping duties the last three seasons, playing in 38 games.

Jake Remsburg
Redshirt Junior – West Des Moines, Iowa

Communications studies graduate
12 career starts and 27 games played.

O'Rien Vance
Redshirt Senior – Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Liberal studies graduate
Has played in 56 games (fourth in school history) and made 42 career starts.
Has 13.5 career sacks, which ranks 10^th all-time in school history.
