Cyclones Rated No. 30 in WCGA Preseason Poll

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State Gymnastics was rated as the No. 30 team in the nation in the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association's (WCGA) Preseason Coaches Poll.
Iowa State finished the 2022 season at No. 25 nationally, the fifth-straight season the Cyclones have finished in the Top 25. ISU qualified for its 14th NCAA Regional in the last 15 seasons, and recorded the highest regional score in program history, scoring a 196.725 in the Second Round against Florida, Denver and Ohio State. The Cyclones also scored 196.875 at home against Lindenwood, the second-highest score of the Jay Ronayne era.
The Cyclones return seven seniors and two graduate students from last year's team, which posted 31 scores of 9.9 or higher, the ninth-most in program history. Iowa State brings in six newcomers, freshmen Morgan Engels, Reagan Loftis, Madelyn Manternach, Madison Matassa, Samantha Rose, and transfer Lauren Thomas from the University of Washington.
The No. 30 Cyclones open the 2023 season Saturday, Jan. 14 against Northern Illinois as part of the Chow's Winter Classic at Hy-Vee Hall in Des Moines, Iowa at 6:30 p.m.
