HONOLULU, Hawai'i – No. 22 Iowa State swept doubles and went 5-1 in singles action against Washington State Friday at the Weinman Foundation Invitational.
Coming off of a strong performance as a team, it was Miska Kadleckova who highlighted the day for Iowa State.
The junior from Banska Bystrica, Slovakia, paired with teammate Sofia Cabezas and defeated Washington State's Linda Kumhom and Yura Nakagawa, 6-2. Kadleckova then took on Kumhom in singles and came out on top by a final score of 6-3, 6-3.
The two wins are Kadleckova's 91st and 92nd, placing her at No. 20 all-time in program history. With an all-time collegiate record of 92-39, she is the third athlete to be recruited by Head Coach Boomer Saia to enter the program's top-20. Kadleckova is also just eight wins shy from the 100-win mark.
Seniors Thasaporn Naklo (117-69) and Chie Kezuka (103-74) are the two active players that are ahead of Kadleckova, however the Iowa State junior is the fastest of her teammates to enter the program's top-20.
In doubles, the Cyclones swept for the second day in a row. Ange Oby Kajuru and Christin Hsieh dominated Eylse Tse and Yang Lee, 6-1. Naklo and Supapitch Kuearum would have a much closer match than their teammates as they narrowly took down Max Murphy and Eva Alvarez, 7-5.
