Tampa Named Jim Thorpe Award Semifinalist

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State senior defensive back T.J. Tampa has been named a semifinalist for the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award.

Tampa, a St. Petersburg, Florida, native, has two interceptions and six pass breakups this season in leading a defense that is ninth nationally in passing efficiency defense and allowing just 19.8 points per game. He's tied for fourth on the team with 31 tackles, including 1.0 for a loss.

Pro Football Focus ranks Tampa as the fourth-best cornerback nationally in pass coverage.
