AMES, Iowa – Iowa State men's golf head coach Andrew Tank has announced the signing of Andrew (Drew) Hensen and Sean Lee. The pair will join the Cyclones for the 2024-25 season.
"I'm thrilled to welcome Sean and Drew to the Cyclone Golf Family," Tank said. "Both possess the strong character and talents that we are looking for. I'm excited to help them during their journey as Cyclones and look forward to the contributions they will make to our program."
Hensen, the top-ranked player in the state of Iowa for the class of 2024, earned All-State honors for Ankeny High School. Hensen finished fourth at the 2023 IHSAA State Championship, earning all-tournament team honors. Hensen shot a 71 in the final round, as he finished four-strokes off the lead. Hensen has also received the IHSAA Distinguished Academic Achievement every year since 2020.
A Cyclone legacy, Hensen was a three-time all-conference selection at Ankeny. During the fall season, Hensen averaged a 71.77, the sixth-best average in the state of Iowa and second-best by a senior. Hensen finished second at the 2023 Iowa Junior Amateur and has earned three Top 10 finishes at AJGA events.
"Everything about Iowa State's program impressed me," Hensen said. "From the new Stark Performance Center and golf facilities to coaching staff and roster. All of those factors made Iowa State feel like the perfect place for me. From the day I was born, I have been raised as a Cyclone. For as long as I can remember, I've been coming to Ames to watch football and basketball games. Continuing to being a Cyclone is a dream come true."
