AUSTIN, Texas – No. 8 Texas made 12 3-pointers on its way to a 72-54 win over No. 23 Iowa State Tuesday evening at Moody Center.
The Cyclones fall to 17-10 overall and 8-7 in Big 12 action while the Longhorns improve to 22-6 overall and 11-4 in league action.
How It Happened
Texas connected on 9-of-16 3-pointers in the first half and ISU turned it over 11 times as the Longhorns converted the miscues into 21 points and went into the break leading 47-29.
The Cyclones went on an 8-0 run to go up 10-4 at the first media timeout of the game, but Texas responded with its own 16-0 run to grab control of the game. ISU trimmed the deficit back to four with 8:08 remaining, but Texas outscored the Cyclones 22-8 the rest of the half.
Iowa State could never get closer than 13 in the second half. The Cyclones were outrebounded in the game (33-29), including 14 Texas' offensive boards, and committed 16 turnovers.
Top Performers
Osun Osunniyi made 5-of-7 field goals and finished with a team-high 12 points. Jaren Holmes had nine points and led the Cyclones with seven rebounds and Gabe Kalscheur chipped in 10 points.
