Joens Named Cyclone Club Student-Athlete of the Week

AMES, Iowa – Ashley Joens has been named the Cyclone Club Student-Athlete of the Week after leading Iowa State to its first Big 12 title since 2001. Joens and the Cyclones defeated Texas, 61-51, Sunday afternoon in Kansas City to hoist the trophy.
Joens, unanimously named the Big 12 Championship's Most Outstanding Player, averaged a double-double (26.7 PPG, 11.0 RPG) over three games at the tournament. In the title game against Texas, the senior dropped 28 points and grabbed 10 boards.
Joens shot 40.6% from the floor across the three games, including 39.4% from beyond the arc. She also averaged two assists and a steal per game.
The Iowa native tallied a 30-point game in the quarterfinals against Baylor and 22 points in a win over Oklahoma in the semifinals.
Iowa State is back in action against Toledo in the NCAA Championship First Round Saturday, March 18 in Knoxville, Tenn.
