BLUFFTON, S.C. - The Iowa State men's golf team was on fire in the second round of the Colleton River Collegiate, held at the Colleton River Club. The Cyclones recorded the second-lowest 18-hole team score in program history with a 20-under 268 in round two. The team finished day one with a 556 (288-268) total and will head into the final round of the tournament in a tie for sixth place with the University of Minnesota.Â
Luke Gutschewski led the way for the Cyclones, compiling a 137 (73-64) total. Gutschewski lit it up in the second round, recording a season low 64 that included five birdies and two eagles. In round one, Gutschewski posted a one-over round of 73 and found himself in a tie for 53rd place. Gutschewski's eight-under in the second round pushed him up 46 places from round one and into a tie for seventh in the individual standings.Â
Lukas Pany will head into the final round in a tie for 12th place after carding rounds of 68 and 70 for a 138 36-hole total. Pany played consistent golf and only recorded two bogeys on the day. During round one, Pany got off to a slow start, paring his first 10 holes, but finished the final eight holes with four birdies. The junior was able to knock in another four birdies during his second round to place second on the team in scoring.Â
 Paul Beauvy was third on the team in scoring after tying his career-low 65 in the second round. The freshman had a first round set-back after posting a three-over 75, but was able to get back into contention after firing a bogey-free seven-under round that included seven birdies. Beauvy now finds himself in a tie for 27th place in the individual standings going into the last day.
Nate Vance concluded his day with a three-under total and finished in a tie for 36th place. The senior carded rounds of 72 and 69 for a 141 36-hole tally. Vance's three-under round of 69 included five birdies and an eagle on the third hole. Â
Zach May rounded out the team's top-five. May posted rounds of 84 and 78 and finished in 72nd place in the individual standings.
Kyo Morishita competed as an individual for the Cyclones. The freshman concluded the day in 68th place after scoring rounds of 77 and 72 for a 149 total.Â
The final round of the tournament, hosted by Michigan State University, will begin with the first group going off at 7:00 a.m. CT on Tuesday, Mar. 7. Follow the Cyclones as they continue to climb up the leaderboard at the Colleton River Collegiate.Â
