With some familiar faces returning to the lineup and several notable additions, Cyclone wrestling fans will have an exciting product to watch on the mat.
Three-time NCAA All-American and 2021 NCAA Champion David Carr enters his final season of eligibility with his sights set on going out on top after finishing as national runner-up a year ago at 165 pounds. Fan favorite and 2022 All-American Yonger Bastida is also back on the roster and eyeing a return to the podium.
In total, Iowa State returns six of its eight NCAA Qualifiers to the roster from last season.
Head coach Kevin Dresser and the coaching staff were busy in the offseason adding depth and key pieces to the lineup. ISU signed two top-100 recruits from the class of 2023 in No. 27 Tate Naaktgeboren and No. 87 McCrae Hagarty, as well as the No. 1 overall recruit from the class of 2022, Cody Chittum.
Joining the exciting group of young faces is transfer Will Feldkamp, a returning All-American from Clarion who is expected to slot in at 184 pounds.
This group of Cyclones will look to improve upon Iowa State's best NCAA finish since 2013 (11th) and highest point total since 2010 (47.0).
