Sarah Lage Selected To Lead ISU's Student-Athlete Development Unit

AMES, Iowa – Sarah Lage, who has spent the past five years in the athletics department at Virginia Tech University, has been selected as Iowa State's Assistant Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Development, ISU Senior Associate Athletics Director for Student Services Shamaree Brown announced today.
"I'm thrilled to have Sarah join our staff to lead our Student-Athlete Development program," Brown said. "She enjoys great respect nationally for developing comprehensive student-athlete programming that I believe will be a tremendous asset to our student-athletes and their growth."
In her new role at ISU, Lage will develop and provide resources to promote the development of all Cyclone student-athletes in the areas of self-awareness, financial literacy, cultural competence, holistic wellness, career exploration and preparation for life after Iowa State.
At Virginia Tech, Lage was responsible for implementing the Career Game Plan, a targeted career development program, in addition to collaborating with the Monogram Club and Hokie Club to enhance alumni relations and provide mentoring opportunities for current Virginia Tech student-athletes. She also served as the departmental liaison to Career and Professional Development.
Lage began her higher education career in 2004 with stops at East Carolina University, Florida Atlantic University, and Midwestern State University (Texas).
A native of Edenton, North Carolina, Lage graduated from North Carolina State with a bachelor's degree in political science and completed her master's degree in public administration from East Carolina University. She is an active member in NACDA/N4A and Women Leaders in Sports; a 2001 graduate of N4A Steve McDonnell Professional Development Institute (PDI), and a 2023 graduate of NCAA Effective Facilitation Workshop (EFW).
Lage and her husband, Richard, reside in Ames.
