AMES, Iowa – Iowa State (13-7, 7-3 Big 12) retuned to the win column with the 78-67 victory over Oklahoma State (11-10, 4-6 Big 12). The Cyclones seal the season sweep over Oklahoma State with the win.
Iowa State led by four at the half while Oklahoma State took a lead of five in the third quarter, but ISU responded taking back the lead for good. Iowa State made 11 3-pointers, its seventh game with at least 10. Audi Crooks again upped her career high with her third-straight 25-point game of a career-high 29 points. Crooks has scored 20 or more points five of the last six games.
Emily Ryan had her first 10-plus assist game of the season and 13th of her career, while coming just short of a triple double with 14 assists, nine points and nine rebounds.
Addy Brown went out to her 15th double-figure outing with 14 points, while Arianna Jackson recorded her third 10-plus point game with 12 on four shots from deep.
How it Happened
Brown had a blazing start knocking down her first three shots to record seven of the Cyclones' first nine points before OSU got on the board, causing the visitors to call a timeout at 6:27. Oklahoma State would trim their deficit down to two (15-13) with 1:11 on the clock, while Jalynn Bristow converted on the and-one to bring Iowa State's lead to five at 18-13 after one.
Iowa State and Oklahoma State traded 3-point makes as the two sides made four straight, putting the score at 28-23, ISU at the midway point of the second frame. Crooks made her fourth bucket of the quarter to enter double figures and put the Cyclones up by nine at 32-23. OSU would make two shots at the end of the half as Iowa State entered the intermission up 32-28.
OSU took its first lead at 35-34 on a run of seven to open the second half. Iowa State would take it right back, while Hannah Belanger delivered her third shot beyond the arc, making it 39-36 with the clock at 6:20. Tie scores and lead changes followed, with Oklahoma State going up by five (47-42). Crooks and Brown answered with back-to-back layups, while Ryan made the crowd erupt with a 3-pointer to pull ISU ahead 49-47 at 1:05. The run continued with another 3, this one by Brown, as Iowa State entered the fourth ahead 52-47.
Jackson sent in a triple, her third, in the opening minutes of the fourth but wasn't done there. At 7:22, Jackson hit her fourth to bring ISU's lead to 10 at 62-52. Crooks continued to add to her point total, making two-straight layups on back-to-back trips down the court to extend the lead to 12 (64-52) halfway through the frame. Never letting up, the Cyclones sealed the 11-point win.
Top Performances
Audi Crooks recorded 10 points in the first half of 5-of-8 shooting, following that up with a 19-point second half. It was Crooks' ninth 20-plus point game and double-figure performance No. 19.
Emily Ryan showed her versatility with 14 assists, nine rebounds, all defensive, nine points and a steal. Ryan's 14 assists is a season high.
