Banuelos Elevated To Associate Head Coach

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State head tennis coach Jaron Maestas announced today that Yair Banuelos has been elevated to associate head coach.

Banuelos came to Iowa State in 2023, joining Maestas' initial staff as an assistant after spending six seasons as head coach of the men's and women's programs at Auburn University at Montgomery, where he was twice named the school's head coach of the year.

"Yair came here and on day one he understood what challenges we faced," Maestas said. "He has worked relentlessly and has shown that he cares about this program and its future. He is one of the best out there."

Banuelos, a Mexico City, Mexico, native, has played an integral role in the construction of the Cyclone roster that posted a 62-27 singles record this fall despite having five freshmen on the squad.
