Jefferson Earns Back-to-Back Big 12 Newcomer Awards

IRVING, Texas - For the second-straight week, Iowa State junior Joshua Jefferson has been named the Big 12 Men's Basketball Newcomer of the Week.Â
Jefferson averaged 16.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists while posting a 10-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio in a pair of Cyclone wins last week. The Las Vegas native scored 19 points with 10 rebounds, seven assists and no turnovers in the 89-80 win at Iowa, becoming the first Big 12 player with that stat line or better, before Kansas' Hunter Dickinson joined him less than 48 hours later. The forward followed with 13 points, eight rebounds and three assists in Sunday's 83-51 win over Omaha. It is the second consecutive newcomer honor for the junior pre-liberal studies major.
No. 3 Iowa State closes the non-conference schedule Sunday against Morgan State. Tipoff is set for 12 p.m. at Hilton Coliseum and will air on ESPN+. Tickets are available here.Â
