URBANDALE, Iowa –The Iowa State tennis team (2-13, 0-8) fell to No. 22 Oklahoma (11-5, 6-1) on Thursday, 7-0.
In doubles, Ashlee Narker and Isabella Dunlap paired up for the first time this season at the No. 1 doubles spot. The pair had a tough matchup as they took on the No. 20 doubles pair in the nation in Roisin Gilheany and Dana Guzman. The duo battled but was outplayed by Oklahoma, 6-1. Juliette Nask and Gala Arangio teamed up at the No. 2 doubles spot against No. 55 Julia Garcia Ruiz and Zdena Safarova. Nask and Arangio would fall in the match, 6-1, allowing Oklahoma to take the doubles point and the 1-0 lead heading into singles.
In singles, Valeska San Martin went up against Oklahoma's Chloe Noel at the No. 5 singles spot. The freshman from Ecuador competed fiercely but ultimately dropped consecutive sets, 6-2, 6-2. This gave Oklahoma a 2-0 lead, two wins away from clinching the match.
Arangio matched up with Emma Staker at the No. 6 singles spot. Arangio battled against Staker, but ultimately fell, 6-1, 6-0. This put Oklahoma up 3-0, needing only one more win to clinch the match.
Oklahoma clinched the match when Isabella Dunlap fell to No. 95 Alina Shcherbinina, 6-1, 6-0.
