AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State men's and women's cross country teams have been ranked in the USTFCCCA preseason polls.
The Cyclone men enter the season ranked fifth while the women were ranked 30th in the national poll. Last season the men finished fifth at the NCAA Championships and return their top five individual finishers. The women were 20th and return their top individual finisher in Maelle Porcher, but lost the next three (Madelynn Hill, Dana Feyen, Janette Schraft) to graduation.
In the Midwest regional poll, the ISU men were slated second behind defending national champion Oklahoma State. The Cyclone women are projected third behind Oklahoma State and Northwestern.
Iowa State opens the 2024 season on Friday on its home course with the Cyclone Preview. The women's 5K race will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the men's 6K to follow at 9 a.m.
