Iowa State Wins at Arizona State, 90-83

TEMPE, Ariz. – Iowa State (11-6, 2-2 Big 12) beat Arizona State (8-8, 2-2 Big 12) on its home court by a final of 90-83 Wednesday night led by five double-digit scorers.

The Cyclones were powered by eight triples to lead by double digits after the first quarter to start strong and go on to secure the conference road win. ISU made 10 3-pointers on the night, hitting double-digit treys for the fifth time this season.

Audi Crooks had game No. 49 in a row in double figures with a game-leading 20 points, her seventh straight game with 20-plus. Arianna Jackson was hot from the start, netting her first three 3-point attempts and going on to total a season-high 14 points. Emily Ryan (16), Addy Brown (14) and Reagan Wilson (10) made for five Cyclones in double figures.

How it Happened

Two early Sun Devil 3s led to a 6-2 lead, but Iowa State came back to tie it 8-8 on a triple by Ryan. ASU again went ahead, but Jackson sent in a triple next to take ISU up 11-10. The 3-pointers continued to fall, as Jackson, Wilson and Syndey Harris put in four more as Iowa State led 26-17 with 3:52 remaining in the opening quarter. Following an ISU scoring drought of over two minutes, Kelsey Joens delivered another 3, while the run extended to eight after a three-point play by Harris. After one, ISU led by 11 at 34-23.

ISU made its first three field goals of the second quarter to continue building a lead, now at 40-26 with 8:11 left in the half. Neither team could make a field goal for the next six minutes of play, while Arizona State would break the drought at the 2:18 mark with a jumper. After a 9-0 ASU run, Jackson would snap it with her fourth made 3-pointer to keep Iowa State ahead at 47-35. That score would hold into halftime.

Crooks put in three straight layups to kick off the second half, while Brown made two behind the charity stripe as the advantage grew to 20 (55-35). ASU answered putting together a string of 12 points, with Brown ending the home team's run with a free throw at 4:49. The teams traded made shots while Iowa State maintained a lead of six or more deep into the third. With 13 seconds to go, a Wilson 3-pointer brought ISU's advantage again to double digits at 68-57.

Crooks continued her strong second half totaling five in the opening three minutes of the fourth. Midway through the frame, ASU hit a 3 to cut its deficit to six and out of the media timeout came within four. Ryan then hit two free throws and followed with a layup while drawing the foul and converting on the three-point play. ASU scored seven in the game's final 40 seconds, but ISU held on to take the seven-point victory.

Arianna Jackson put the Cyclones on the right foot shooting 3-of-3 from deep in the first quarter and totaling 14 points in the first half. All of Jackson's shot attempts came from behind the arc, shooting at 4-of-6. Audi Crooks had her 11^th game of the season with 20-plus points and 18^th of her career.
