INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Iowa State seniors Keshon Gilbert and Curtis Jones have been named to the Oscar Robertson Trophy Midseason Watch List.
Gilbert is averaging 15.2 points, 4.5 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game this year. He is one of just 12 players in the country to hit those marks this season. He's scored a season-high 24 points twice this year, coming in victories over Dayton (Nov. 26) and No. 5 Marquette (Dec. 4). Gilbert is shooting 50.9 percent from the floor and 32.7 percent from downtown, as he's led the No. 3 Cyclones to a 17-4 record this season.
The leading scorer for the Cyclones, Jones is averaging 17.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. Jones had a streak of 22-straight Big 12 regular season games where he scored in double figures earlier this season, the longest streak in the league in over five years and the 16th longest in league history. Jones scored a career-high 33 points at Arizona State on Jan. 25, as he was named the Dickie V National Player of the Week.
The U.S. Basketball Writers Association has selected 50 standout men's college basketball players for its 2024-25 Oscar Robertson Trophy Midseason Watch List. Members of the association's board of directors chose the players that will be considered as contenders for the National Player of the Year. All Division I players remain eligible for the award.
The Oscar Robertson Trophy winner is to be announced at the NCAA Men's Final Four in San Antonio, from April 5-7. The formal presentation of the trophy will follow at the annual USBWA Awards Luncheon hosted by the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis. A final watch list will be released in early March and those chosen will be included on the USBWA's annual awards ballot.
