Lipsey Named to Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Watchlist

ATLANTA – Iowa State junior Tamin Lipsey has been named to the 2025 Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Watchlist Presented by MOLECULE.

Of the 15 players named to the watchlist, three of them are from the Big 12. Lipsey was a finalist for the award last season.

Lipsey has been stuffing the stat sheet all season, averaging 10.8 points, 2.8 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game. He is one of just 28 NCAA Division I men's basketball players to average those numbers this season, including only two in the Big 12. Lipsey has a steal in 87 of the 91 games he has played in his career, including streaks of 34 and 22 games with a steal.

The No. 8 Cyclones return to action Saturday, hosting TCU at Hilton Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. on ESPN+. Prior to the game, Iowa State will be hosting ESPN's College GameDay, live from Hilton Coliseum.
