AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), in collaboration with United Way, organized the annual CyCans Food Drive during the men's and women's basketball games at Hilton Coliseum earlier this month.
SAAC members were stationed throughout the Hilton Coliseum concourse, gathering canned goods, non-perishable items, and monetary donations ahead of the weekend's events.Â
Through the drive, student-athletes collected 1,361.95 pounds of food for The Shop, a campus food pantry dedicated to assisting Iowa State students. Additionally, $3,782 was raised, and this money will be distributed by United Way to support food pantries across Story County.Â
"CyCans is a great initiative that allows us to give back to individuals in Story County while collaborating with the Iowa State community," said Jocelyn Bice, SAAC Community Service Chair  "It's a fun opportunity to be able to get involved in something meaningful and support other Iowa State athletes at the same time."
Iowa State Athletics extends its gratitude to Cyclone Nation for their generous support of this meaningful cause!Â
