LOS ANGELES - Iowa State seniors Joshua Jefferson and Tamin Lipsey have been named to the Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 Watch List.Â
Selected by a midseason poll of national college basketball experts, the list comprises 25 student-athletes who are frontrunners for the most prestigious honors in college basketball: the Wooden Award All-American Team™ and the Wooden Award® Most Outstanding Player.
Featuring a refined group of the nation's most impactful performers, the 2025–26 John R. Wooden Award® Men's Midseason Top 25 Watch List highlights the players who have distinguished themselves through the heart of the college basketball season. Multiple selections from programs like Arizona, Houston, Purdue, and Iowa State reflect the sustained excellence and depth across the country as the Wooden Award continues its 50th anniversary season.
The players on the list are considered strong candidates for the 2026 John R. Wooden Award® Men's Player of the Year. Players not selected for the list remain eligible for inclusion on the Wooden Award® late-season list and the National Ballot. The National Ballot will feature 15 top players who have demonstrated to their universities that they meet or exceed the Wooden Award® qualifications.
Jefferson is averaging 17.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 1.6 steals per game this season. He is the only player in the country to average those numbers, while just two peple since 1996-97 have gone an entire season doing so. He recently dropped the ninth triple-double in program history with 10 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds against West Virginia.
Lipsey has been at it for four years. Over the course of his 114 games in Ames, Lipsey has averaged 10.6 points, 4.3 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game. Since 1947-48, just 20 players have averaged those numbers while playing at least 110 games of college basketball.
