Doubles Highlights Day Three In Texas

WACO, Texas – The Iowa State tennis team continued action for Day three of the H-E-B Invitational, posting a combined 8-4 record on Saturday across singles and doubles competition.

The Cyclones were dominant on the doubles courts, going 3-1 overall. Highlighting doubles play was the duo of Julia Camblor and Stanislava Shulzhenko, who delivered an 8-0 shutout over UTSA's Laia Tarazona Peyro and Gabriela Felix da Silva. Valeska San Martin Ramirez and Valentina Vargas held off Kansas' Polina Koneva and Maria Manzi in an 8-6 battle, while Alicia Dale and Gabriella Kellner cruised past Kansas duo Tamari Ahn and Simryn Jacob with an 8-2 victory.

In singles action, Iowa State went 5-3 on the day. Alberto Vilar had a comfortable 6-1, 6-2 win against UTSA's Celine Absawi. Millie Day put together a dominant performance of her own, shutting out UTSA's Katsiaryna Dubik in the second set for a 6-3, 6-0 win.

The Cyclones will look to carry that strong momentum into Sunday's final round as they wrap up play in Waco tomorrow morning.
