AMES, Iowa – Iowa State Senior Joshua Jefferson completed the All-American circuit on Thursday. Jefferson was named a second team All-American by both the NABC and the USBWA.
Last week, Jefferson was named a First Team All-American by The Sporting News, while he was named to the second team by the Associated Press yesterday. The Associated Press, The Sporting News, the NABC and the USBWA make up the four organizations for consensus All-American honors.
By earning a spot on all four All-America teams, Jefferson has been named a consensus second team All-American. He is the fifth consensus All-American in program history and the first since Georges Niang in 2016. Â
Jefferson, an All-Big 12 First Team selection, continues to be Mr. Do-It-All for the Cyclones. He is the first player in Big 12 history to turn in multiple triple-doubles in Big 12 play. He's averaging 16.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.7 steals per game. He's the only Power Conference player in the country to average those numbers. Only five players have done so in an entire season in the country going back to 1974-75, with no one in the Big 12 having accomplished it. Jefferson has scored in double figures in all 34 games this season, the third-most games in double figures in a season in school history. His streak of 40-straight games going back to last season ranks as the second-longest in the nation. His 167 assists this season are tied for the 19th-most in program history, while his 276 over the last two seasons are the 18th-most in program history for a career.
The Cyclones return to action Friday, as second-seeded Iowa State faces 15th-seeded Tennessee State in the first round of the 2026 NCAA Tournament in St. Louis. Tipoff is set for 1:50 p.m. on CBS.
