AMES, Iowa – Iowa State guard Tamin Lipsey has signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Indiana Pacers following the 2026 NBA Draft. Lipsey is the second Cyclone from this class to join the NBA, as Joshua Jefferson was picked in the first round of the NBA Draft.
Lipsey will begin his journey with the Pacers in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, being held July 9-19.
A 2024 AP Honorable Mention All-American, Lipsey was a three-time All-Big 12 selection. Off the court, he was a three-time CSC Academic All-American and the 2026 CSC Academic All-American of the Year. He was also named to the Allstate NACDA Winter Good Works Team.
Lipsey, a three-time Big 12 All-Defensive Team selection, averaged 13.5 points, 5.1 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game this season. He is the only Power Conference player in the country to average those numbers since 2022 and the first Cyclone to do so since Tyrese Haliburton in 2019-20. His 3.33 assist-to-turnover ratio is the seventh-best in school history, while his 2.3 steals per game is eighth in school history. He ranks fourth in school history with 77 steals this season, while his six games with five-plus steals are the most in school history.
One of the best Cyclones of all time, Lipsey is the Iowa State career leader in steals with 313, while he ranks fourth in assists with 602. His 137 career starts are the most in program history, while his 98 career wins are the second-most in program history. Lipsey averaged 11.0 points, 4.4 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game over his 137 games as a Cyclone. He finished his career with 1,507 points, 602 assists, 518 rebounds and 314 steals, becoming the first player in Big 12 history to tally those numbers and just the fourth in the NCAA since 1986-87.
