AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State softball team has added its first portal addition of the offseason, as Coach Pinkerton has announced the signing of Kennedy Diggs.
Diggs, a Kansas transfer, comes to Ames with two years of eligibility remaining and will bolster the Cyclone bullpen. A right-handed pitcher, Diggs will join freshmen Sammi Boggs, Lauren Hagedorn and Mallie Stoner as additions to the Cyclone stable.
"Kennedy is an excellent addition for us," said Pinkerton. "She will bring experience to a bullpen that is predominantly underclassmen, and she complements the bullpen with her repertoire of pitches. She can be a starter, middle reliever and a closer depending on the situations we will face during the season."
A native of Creighton, Missouri, Diggs appeared in 20 games for the Jayhawks over the last two seasons and holds a 5-1 record. She has two complete games in five starts, with 45 career strikeouts. In 59.1 innings pitched, Diggs owns a 3.54 ERA.
Diggs has twice pitched against Iowa State, totaling seven frames and striking out five.
In her freshman campaign, Diggs appeared in 14 contests, hurling 45 frames and punching out 33 batters. She saw her role diminish as a sophomore, seeing action in only eight contests, but registered a 1.91 ERA. Diggs was named to the Big 12 Academic All-Rookie Team in 2025.
Diggs was a two-time state runner-up in high school and a three-time district champion. She holds Missouri's high school records for career strikeouts and single-season strikeouts.
