Haliburton, Pacers to Play Exhibition Game at Hilton Coliseum

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Former Iowa State star and two-time NBA All-Star Tyrese Haliburton will bring his Indiana Pacers squad to Hilton Coliseum for an exhibition game this fall. The Pacers will face the Minnesota Timberwolves on Oct. 7 at 6 p.m.

This will be the fourth NBA Exhibition game played at Hilton Coliseum and the first since 2018. In 1991, former Cyclones Jeff Grayer (Milwaukee Bucks) and Jeff Hornacek (Phoenix Suns) squared off in a game, while former Cyclone Fred Hoiberg and Iowa State Head Coach Tim Floyd (Chicago Bulls) faced the Atlanta Hawks in 1999. In 2018, Hilton played host to the Milwaukee Bucks and Minnesota Timberwolves.

Playing in just 22 games before suffering a season-ending injury in 2019-20, Haliburton earned All-Big 12 Second Team honors. He also earned all-district honors from USBWA and NABC, while being named a finalist for the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award. When his season ended, he was sixth in the Big 12 in scoring (15.2), second in FG percentage (50.4), first in assists (6.5), first in steals (2.5), second in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.3), third in 3FG percentage (41.9) and 13th in rebounding (5.9).

Haliburton is entering his seventh NBA season, including his fifth with the Indiana Pacers. He finished third in NBA Rookie of the Year voting in 2021 and was named to the All-NBA Third Team in both 2024 and 2025. Haliburton became the eighth Cyclone to earn an Olympic Gold Medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics and the first former basketball player at Iowa State to earn an Olympic Gold Medal. He led the league in assists with 10.9 per game in 2023-24 and helped usher the Pacers to their second-ever NBA Finals appearance in 2025 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
