Iowa State Announces 2026-27 Men’s Wrestling Schedule

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State announced its 2026-27 men's wrestling schedule Friday morning, its first season of competition under head coach Brent Metcalf. The schedule includes a loaded home slate with seven duals in Hilton Coliseum against Bucknell, Arizona State, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Stanford and Cornell.
Nine of ISU's 15 dual opponents finished in the top 25 at the 2026 NCAA Championships, including six opponents who finished in the top 15. Four of Iowa State's seven home opponents placed in the top 15 at last year's national tournament.
Iowa State will open the Metcalf era against Bucknell on Sunday, Nov. 1 at 6 p.m., the Cyclones' only home date of the first semester.
ISU hits the road to Utah Valley for its first Big 12 dual on Nov. 6 before a trip to warmer weather for the Sunshine Wrestling Duals on Nov. 14 in Bradenton, Florida. The Cyclones will square off against North Dakota State and Penn while in the Sunshine State.
The Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Dual will take place Sunday, Nov. 22 in Iowa City. The Cyclones will look for their second-straight win over the Hawkeyes for the first time since 2003-04.
Iowa State's only competition in the month of December is the National Duals Invitational, held Dec. 12-13 at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The dual tournament, which puts a $1,230,000 total prize purse up for grabs, will feature a 16-team field with the top eight teams earning payouts. Tickets are on sale now, here.
The Cyclones open the new year Jan. 2-3 at the Soldier Salute in Coralville, Iowa before back-to-back home Big 12 duals against Arizona State (Jan. 10) and Wyoming (Jan. 17).
ISU will then take a quick trip east for duals at West Virginia (Jan. 22) and Lock Haven (Jan. 24). A three dual home stand awaits the Cyclones after their road trip with duals against Oklahoma (Jan. 29), Oklahoma State (Jan. 31) and Stanford (Feb. 5).
Iowa State travels to Cedar Falls for an in-state matchup against UNI (Feb. 12) prior to its final home dual of the season against Cornell (Feb. 14). The Cyclones close the regular season in Columbia, Missouri against Big 12 foe Missouri (Feb. 17).
Adding to the excitement of the regular season, the Big 12 announced the addition of a regular dual meet conference title beginning this season. The Big 12 regular season championship will be awarded to the team with the highest winning percentage in conference dual meets, with no tiebreakers to allow for co-champions. The regular season title will be in addition to the annual Big 12 Wrestling Championship presented by Allstate.
The 2027 Big 12 Championship is March 5-6 at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma while the NCAA Championships will be held March 18-20 at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Mo.
Reserved and general admission season tickets are on sale now at cyclones.com. Iowa State averaged 6,641 fans per home dual last season; it's second-best season attendance average on record (since 1997). That makes ISU one of three schools nationally, and the only in the Big 12, to average 5,000-plus fans per home dual in each of the last four seasons.
