Cross Country Remains Top Five in USTFCCCA National Polls

AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State men's and women's cross country programs remained in the top five nationally following a pair of preseason meets. The Cyclone men remained third while the women appeared fourth in the USTFCCCA Week 1 poll.
The Iowa State women remained the top-voted team in the Midwest regional poll while the men stayed at the No. 2 spot behind defending NCAA Champion Oklahoma State.
Iowa State most recently competed at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minnesota last weekend. The men placed five runners in the top 10 to secure the team title at the event while the women finished seventh overall. Rodgers Kiplimo finished as the individual runner up for the Cyclone men in his first race of the season. Kiplimo is one of ISU's returning All-Americans, placing among the top 40 at the national meets in 2023 and 2025. Joining Kiplimo in the top 10 at the Griak Invitational were Dylan Maloney (3rd), Devan Kipyego (4th), Mikah Peters (5th) and Matthew Shelly (10th). On the women's side, Sophia Keditukei once again led Iowa State with a top 15 individual finish in Minnesota.
The Cyclones return to action on Friday, October 9 for the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational. The women's 6K is set to begin at 10:30 am with the men's 8K to follow at 11:10 am in Madison.
