AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State women's cross country team hosted the Cyclone Preview on Friday morning. The Cyclones were led by transfer Sophia Keditukei, who finished the 5K race in 17:36.5.
"Today, for the women that raced, is just getting out there and getting into that mindset and shaking off some cobwebs, so that we know where we're at or what we need to work on going forward," said women's head coach Laura Harmon. "I'm glad I got to watch them execute a plan today and kind of navigate closing in the end. For most of them, they haven't really raced since last winter or fall. So, I like them to get out and get that effort in because it actually gives them a really good training boost generally. So I think that's where we can start to really make some improvements."
Iowa State scored 117 points behind Minnesota (27), Missouri (34), Nebraska (98) and Drake (111).
Joining Keditukei on the course for a preseason rust-buster were Claire White, Olivia Verde, Ruby Hughes and Sheridan Wheeler. Keditukei led the group with a 14th-place finish while White (24th) and Verde (28th) were also among the top 30. Hughes finished 45th with Wheeler close behind in 49th to round out the group.
