2010-2011
Finished the season with a 19-9 record and fell only one match short of earning All-America honors…finished second at the Hokie Open, losing a tight match to eventual national champion Dustin Kilgore of Kent State…earned a second-place finish at the Harold Nichols/Cyclone Open, dropping a close match to eventual Midlands runner-up and Division III national champion Byron Tate of Wartburg…defeated Iowa’s All-American Luke Lofthouse 5-3 in a dual…earned a crucial major decision over Andy O’Laughlin of UNI that eventually led to a 21-20 victory for the Cyclones…finished in second place to eventual national runner-up Clayton Foster of Oklahoma State at the Big 12 Championships…defeated three opponents at the NCAA Championships before bowing out in the round of 12, just one win short of becoming an All-American.
2009-2010
Qualified for the NCAA tournament for a second time in two years…earned a 19-11 record…recorded one major decision and one fall…went 1-2 at the NCAA tournament…nearly upset top seed Kirk Smith of Boise State in the first round…placed second at the Harold Nichols/Cyclone Open…placed seventh at the Midlands Championships with his only losses coming to former All-American Louis Caputo of Harvard and eventual National Champion Max Askren of Missouri…achieved two wins over Iowa’s two-time All-American Phil Keddy…defeated former national champion Mike Pucillo of Ohio State…kicked off his sophomore campaign by winning 15 of his first 18 matches.
2008-09
Qualified for the NCAA Championships at 184 pounds in his first season as an Iowa State starter ... posted a 1-2 mark at the tournament, handling Missouri’s Dorian Henderson in consolation action by decision, 6-1 ... took Big 12 Conference runner-up honors at 184 pounds ... edged Oklahoma’s Pat Flynn 2-1 (TB1) in overtime during the Big 12 semifinal round ... scored a major decision of Tennessee-Chattanooga’s Tyler Roberson, 10-2 ... captured an individual title at the Briar Cliff Open, winning four of five majors in bonus-point style ... scored a come-from-behind victory against Oklahoma State’s Cody Hill, 8-7, after being thrown to his back early in the first period ... went 4-3 in his first taste of the Midlands Championships ... come out on top of Arizona State’s Jake Meredith at home in overtime, winning a 6-4 (SV) decision ... competed in the Harold Nichols/Cyclone Open.
