Second-Team All-State by the IPSWA in Class 4A as a senior … two-way star at quarterback and safety, and also handle team punting duties … two-time all-district choice … his 27 total touchdowns tied for first among Class 4A quarterbacks as a senior … passed for 1,602 yards (131-215) and 17 touchdowns on a team that went 6-4 and qualified for the state playoffs … rushed for 329 yards and 10 touchdowns and averaged 32.1 yards per punt … had 25.5 tackles on defense … as a junior, played primarily at safety, recording 53.5 tackles and three interceptions … also played basketball and was a state track meet qualifier … coached by Matt Miller.

Majoring in entrepreneurship … uncle, Nik Moser, was an All-Big 12 defensive back at Iowa State (2002-05) … sister, Lehr, was a member of the Iowa State swimming and diving team … grandfather, Sherwyn Thorson, was a two-sport All-American in football and wrestling at Iowa … Sherwyn won the 1962 NCAA title at heavyweight and is a member of the of the Iowa Athletics and Iowa Wrestling Hall of Fames .. Sherwyn played seven years in the CFL (1962-68) for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
