Matt Lenti is in his first season as a quality control assistant working with the defense.
Lenti recently served as a defensive graduate assistant for Washington State as the Cougars took a team with 75 newcomers and finished 7-6 overall with a win in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.
The Cougar defense allowed just 20.2 points per game in 2025, including just 13.5 points in the final nine games. In total, WSU gave up 10 points or less in six of 13 contests.
Washington State had one of the nation’s best passing defenses in 2025, ranking 13th nationally while allowing just 174.4 passing yards per game. On the ground, WSU gave up just 125.2 rushing yards as its total defense finished the regular season ranked No. 15 with opponents recording just 299.5 yards per game.
Lenti spent the 2024 season as a defensive graduate assistant working with nickelbacks for Division III National Champion North Central College (Ill.). They were first nationally in third-down defense and red zone defense, while allowing just 11.8 points per game.
A native of LaGrange Park, Illinois, Lenti played safety at the University of Dayton from 2019-23. He was a co-captain in 2023, earning All-Pioneer Football League (PFL) honorable mention accolades.
Lenti earned his bachelor’s degree in sports management with a minor in business administration from Dayton in 2023.
