Shane Dowty is in his second season as a graduate assistant working with the Cyclone defense. A native of Muscatine, Iowa, Dowty graduated from the University of Iowa in 2010 where he was a student assistant with the Hawkeye football team for two seasons (2009-10).
Dowty spent two seasons working with the College of the Desert (California) football team after spending a year assisting at St. Ambrose (2011).
