Born Aug. 6, 1998 … son of Jimmie and Valorie Johnson … criminal justice major … father, Jimmie, was the tight ends coach for the New York Jets (2015-18) and the Minnesota Vikings from 2007-14 ... he also served as an offensive coordinator at Texas Southern and Shaw … Jimmie played 10 years in the NFL (1989-98) as a tight end … brother, Jimmie Jr., played football at Bryant University and brother, Bradley, played football at Howard University … grandfather, Willie Jeffries, was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2010 … Jeffries was the head coach at South Carolina State (1973-78, 1989-2001), Wichita State (1979-83) and Howard (1984-88), compiling an 180-132-6 record … Jeffries was the first African American to be named head coach at a predominately white Division I-A university when Wichita State hired him 1979 … he is the only man in college football to coach against Eddie Robinson and Paul “Bear” Bryant.
