Tim Mannix is in his second year as a graduate assistant for Iowa State. Mannix will assist the staff in video editing and player development.
In his first season in Ames, Mannix was part of a staff that led Iowa State to a 25-9 overall record and finished second in the Big 12 with a 12-6 mark. The Cyclones won the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship title for the second consecutive season and defeated nine ranked teams in 2014-15.
The Cyclones' offense continued to be one of the best nationally, averaging a Big 12-best 77.9 points per game.
Georges Niang earned All-America honors and was one of three players to earn All-Big 12 accolades in 2015. Jameel McKay was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year.
Mannix, a Springfield, Massachusetts, native, came to Iowa State after spending time at Wilbraham and Monson Academy in Wilbraham, Mass. While at the academy he tutored students with learning disabilities and served as an assistant coach on the basketball team.
From 2012-13, Mannix worked as a trainer for Pro Hoops NYC in Harlem, New York. He also was an assistant coach for the 16U Team Scan AAU program based in Bronx, N.Y.
Mannix graduated from St. Johns University with a degree in sport management. While at St. Johns he was a student manager from 2007-11 under head coaches Steve Lavin and Norm Roberts. He was co-director of Steve Lavin basketball camps in 2011.
