Haley Covais was named the Iowa State Director of Softball Operations on January 4, 2023, after spending two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at Augustana.
Her duties with the Cyclones range from coordinating practices/games to assisting with unit budget as well as coordination of team travel. During games, Covais is in charge of keeping stats and charting.
During her two years with the Augustana Vikings, Covais helped lead the team to a 99-18 record. The Vikings went 50-10 in 2022, advancing to an NCAA Regional Championship. That came after a 2021 campaign that saw the Vikings earn a Final Eight designation in the NCAA II Tournament as they captured an NSIC Conference Championship.
Prior to her pair of seasons with Augustana, Covais spent both the 2019 and 2020 seasons with St. Cloud State. In 2019, the Huskies posted their best record since 2003, reaching the NCAA regionals. Her 2020 campaign was cut short due to COVID-19.
Haley’s coaching career began in 2017 when she joined the USF staff after graduating from Sioux Falls. Covais joined the staff after being a team member of the Cougars where she played both catcher and infield. As a member of the USF staff, Covais helped guide the Cougars to their fifth consecutive NSIC Conference Tournament.
A native of Lennox, South Dakota, Covais earned her bachelor’s degree (’17) from USF in biology while later earning a master’s degree in sports management and leadership.
